A little about me…..
Hi! My name’s Keira, I’m seventeen and I aspire to work as a tradie………in another life. In this one, it’s pretty clearly going to be fashion for me.
In 2023, I found my mum’s decade old sewing machine and started sewing just for fun. It’s been a love-hate relationship (don’t get me started on when the needle snaps), but I feel so empowered when a rectangle piece of fabric can be turned into something that can be both worn and generate emotions in people.
Over the last few years I have been sewing for various reasons; a couple custom pieces for my friends here and there, and personal pieces for myself. Often it usually comes down to when I have an event on the next day and need to make something to wear.
The incredible thing about fashion is that there are infinite design possibilities, and I always surprise myself by what I come up with next, taking things day-by-day, stitch-by-stitch, working towards my next big dreams.
First dress I designed and made myself for my 15th birthday.
Dress I made to attend my first ever Australian Fashion week (also the most stressful dress making this the night before).
My favourite custom look I’ve done so far made using upcycled Mexican fabrics for beautiful Fatima to wear during the Miss Multiverse Pageant.
The most technically difficult dress I’ve made which involved mechanics and coding to make motorised butterfly wings.
